One of the most special moments in our studio was when Remi, an experienced opal miner and cutter from Coober Pedy, Australia, walked through our doors. With hands calloused from years underground and a case full of luminous stones, Remi came to show us his latest opal finds — and we were immediately captivated.

Coober Pedy is one of the most iconic opal mining regions in the world, known for its harsh landscapes and extraordinary gems. Remi has spent years sourcing some of the finest quality Australian opals, digging by hand, working through heat and rock, and cutting each stone himself with expert care and deep respect for the material.

One especially meaningful commission was a ring we created for Joe — featuring a perfect transparent opal. Its clarity allowed us to set her father’s ashes beneath the stone, creating a memorial piece that was both subtle and deeply symbolic.
