Art Deco Engagement Ring Designed in Cardiff
This bespoke Art Deco engagement ring was designed and handcrafted in our Cardiff workshop for Sioned. From the outset, she was drawn to the individuality of a unique sapphire — something distinctive in shape, colour, and presence.
At the centre of the ring sits a striking hexagonal teal sapphire, selected for its clean angular form and rich tonal depth. The crisp geometry of the hexagon lends itself naturally to Art Deco design, echoing the symmetry and architectural precision associated with 1920s jewellery.
The sapphire is secured in a refined claw setting, allowing light to enter from multiple angles while maintaining strong structural definition. On either side, tapered baguette diamonds extend along the shoulders, reinforcing linear symmetry and guiding the eye toward the centre stone.
We designed the setting with careful consideration for longevity and wear, ensuring a plain wedding band can sit neatly and flush beneath the engagement ring without gaps. This structural planning allows the geometric setting to remain bold while still accommodating a classic straight band in the future.
The ring is finished with a court-shaped band, offering a smooth, rounded interior and exterior profile for comfort while providing a balanced foundation for the architectural setting above.
The result is a ring that feels bold and contemporary, yet rooted in Art Deco structure — distinctive, balanced, and designed to evolve beautifully alongside a wedding band.

From Sketch to CAD: Designing a Bespoke Engagement Ring in Cardiff
Every bespoke engagement ring we create begins with consultation sketches followed by detailed CAD modelling. For Sioned’s ring, this stage was essential in refining the proportions of the hexagonal teal sapphire and ensuring the tapered baguette diamonds aligned precisely with the geometry of the centre stone.
Through CAD, we carefully developed:
- The symmetry of the hexagonal setting
- The angle and taper of the baguette shoulders
- The claw placement for both security and light flow
- The balance between the structured setting and the court-shaped band
This refinement ensures architectural accuracy before the ring is handcrafted in our Cardiff workshop.
